Over the weekend, I was truly introduced to the stigma of being under twenty-one. To get the ticket for the Misfits, all people under twenty-one were charged four dollars extra. Moreover, once we were in the door, we received blue wristbands instead of the regular orange, which wasn’t that horrible. The most irritating part, though, was that we were escorted from the door to the “under twenty-one” section which was a bit odd. Additionally, each time we made our way to the bathroom, at least two to three people asked us where we were going and watched us for the entire trip. I have never felt so segregated for being under twenty-one!

The Misfits
So this Sunday was the Misfits concert at The Whiskey Tango on Bustleton Ave. in Somerton. The band was supposed to go on at 8pm but sadly did not start their set until 10:45! They still pleased all of their fans though since they played for an hour and a half. The amazing part was that I was one of only three girls in the pit for the whole night! It was a blast but quite possibly the loudest concert I have ever attended. All in all, though, it was an awesome night, in spite of getting head-butted in the face!

Blogging....a whole new form of journalism
Learning about blogging today definitely opened my eyes to lots more ways of blogging. I never knew that major newspaper writers had their own blogs and that has given me a whole new respect for it. Originally, I really hated doing this whole blogging business, but now that I’ve gotten into the swing of things, I’m really beginning to appreciate it a lot more. It was a blast reading other people’s blogs too, since I really have not gotten a chance to do that at all since the class has started blogging. Moreover, reading other blogs has given me new ideas for what to write on, since I frequently experience writers block. I am most definitely going to be more willing to blog for my boss, when he tries to con me into writing in his blog for him. Since we are wedding photographers, it usually does not really interest me while writing it, but I now know that I can have my own style while writing his blogs for him!
Baby kitties
This weekend, I was fortunate enough to see the kittens again and oh my how they have grown. Not only are their eyes all open now, but they are even beginning to get up and practice walking and playing with each other. They are getting much bigger and their lungs are definitely getting stronger since they are starting to meow much louder. Even their momma is beginning to give them more independence and leaving them alone for longer periods, but her longer periods are only about ten to fifteen minutes.

Why can't I talk to a person?!
While being ambitious about getting an interview from the famous Kat Von D from LA Ink for the trend piece, I have learned how difficult it is to reach a real person when calling various places. Not only does the shop have a menu at the beginning, it also has automated responses to each number on the menu. What the heck! Don’t real people answer phones anymore? This has been a very annoying experience.

Over the Weekend...
Over the weekend, my boyfriend of almost two and a half years finally met my father. It was worrisome at first, since I am the only child, and a girl. When told that I was bringing my boyfriend for dinner, my father asked (without skipping a beat) “can I be polishing my guns and sharpening my knives when you get here?” What could have potentially been a nerve-wracking meeting ended up thriving when John, my boyfriend, began asking my father about his firehouse. He even took us to the firehouse to show John all of the engines and tour him around all of the heavy machinery, which he absolutely loved! It is so relieving to have this meeting out of the way and know that John has passed the test.

Since I promised to update on the kittens once I saw them, I am doing so. We have not yet sexed them but there are five kittens. One is a white and grey tabby, one is a tuxedo pattern, one is all black with a white chin, and two are completely black. As usual, they are painfully adorable since they were only five days old when I saw them. Their mommy, Tux, is so good natured. Whenever she is in the room with her kittens, which is almost all of the time, she purrs constantly.

Nana's birthday weekend
This weekend we celebrated Nana’s 95th birthday a little early. Her actual birthday isn’t until Wednesday but we decided to have the big party this weekend. She was aware that all family members were going to be attending but we surprised her by inviting some of her friends from church. She was amazed since she never expected it. My contribution was a two layer cake. I covered each cake in fondant. It was a yellow cake with unsweetened whipped cream and fresh strawberries between layers. The cake was then covered with homemade butter cream icing and then fondant over it. It was delicious!
